Saturday #44 - Malaysia Windows 7 Launch in Ikano

Woke up close to 11 a.m., had a nasi lemak brunch.

Asked my mum about my knee, so got it checked at the clinic. Doc told me that my knee was inflammed and was prescribed anti inflammatory and pain meds, the latter only if necessary. Been told not to stand too long and climb stairs for a while. Hmm.

Dropped the sibling earlier at the train station so that he could take the free bus to Ikano for the Windows 7 launch event at the roadshow that's happening there this weekend.
Stayed home long enough to wash both cars in the rain (just cos) and went to Ikano to get a discounted copy of Windows 7 Home Premium (30%) going for RM370 which only goes on sale at 7 p.m. instead of the earlier mentioned 7.07 p.m.. It's 777 copies among 4 locations in Malaysia, and 200 of them are in Ikano. There wasn't much of a line, and that I'm grateful for because of my knee. The sibling is second in line (if there are pictures of the first few people in line, I'm just saying..).

You get in line, get a ticket from one guy, fill it out your particulars in the back... and wait. Good time to have an mp3 player - dunno why I decided to kill the 40 or so minutes with an episode of the 404 podcast.

On the form there's a couple of boxes to check where if you want, you can have a 5 to 10 minute break from lining up and one of their crew would step in your place for the duration or else have your place in line revoked. Since I was only in line since 6 something, I didn't think I needed the toilet breaks. Took the water they gave out, though. Cup, not bottle variety.

The line gets moving - people finally able to get the Windows 7.

Apparently if you get a Win 7 cupcake if you're born on the 7th (what month, I never found out but I suppose any month goes).

Coincidentally, AllIT (the big franchise geek fest tech megastore) is also selling Win 7 Home Premium for RM419 this weekend only. All the boxes say that distribution and activation "must occur" in South East Asia.
