Kuku Bar and Nirwana Maju

Went for a free mani-pedi at Kuku Bar in Bangsar (more voucher use). Due to circumstances out of my control (read: I didn't do the driving), we were about at least half an hour late for the appointment, which I feel awful about because I still respect other people's time and don't like to keep people waiting.

Anyway, we were there for at least an hour (closer to an hour and a half, maybe) because someone opted to do a French manicure (which I now know takes FOREVER because of the many layers) for an additional RM8. RM8 for a French manicure is not too shabby, but still. The 20 minutes spent drying my painted nails seemed an eternity. Got a neutral colour for my fingernails and a very dark purple for my toe nails (I thought it was black when I picked it, but I didn't care either way).

While the results are not too bad, but quite frankly, I wouldn't pay for it myself and it'll probably be the last time I ever do a mani-pedi... :P Not only can I sit still for it, but with my luck it'll smudge and chip before the usual few days is up.

Anyway, walked over the Nirwana Maju for lunch (which, as usual, is crowded like heck) and because it was just the two of us, getting a table didn't take too long - it was a case of being in the right place at the right time. Anyway, knowing me and banana leaf rice, I didn't order any additional dishes to the basic vegan rice set, but fyee ordered a plate of fried sotong rings (which was nice, but was a little aghast that it was RM10). For someone who doesn't like bitter gourd, their fried bitter gourd was crunchy and not bitter at all. I didn't even know what it was until I asked fyee - yes, I admit my jakun-ness. Our bill came up to RM23 something, my rice and teh ais (which is not too diluted, I must say) was RM6.70. Didn't even ask for seconds on the basics cos I was already stuffed... small appetites and banana leaf rice doesn't gel.

Wandered around Bangsar Village before calling it a day. Now I'm a little sleepy from the banana leaf lunch. Crap.
