Finally decided to go watch Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: The Squeakuel, using the GSC birthday voucher for a free ticket for the (*) movies [at the moment being: Sherlock Holmes, Avatar and some other movie which doesn't come to mind now]. Looking at the current list of movies which might be (*) movies in a few weeks, I decided to watch the chipmunk movie while I still could.
There's the mindless entertainment value that you can't deny. The song "covers" (if you could call them that) are not terrible; the only reason why one wouldn't recognise at least one song in the movie would be if they've not been listening to the radio or watch any TV in the last year.
The plot is nothing to speak of, being a kid movie and all, it doesn't really matter. There's the thing about who would let them into a human high school...? (Answer: a principal who's a closet Chipmunks fan)
Things I like about it...
Conclusion: The musical numbers alone was worth the price of admission, but as it's coming to the end of its cinema run so...

Things I like about it...
- A lot less David Cross (as villian Ian Hawke) than the previous movie.
- There's also not a lot of Jason Lee (as Dave), also a good thing... for me, anyway.
- TV's Chuck (Zachary Levi) as the reluctant slacker guardian (you should see what he did to his grandmother, Dave's Aunt Jackie) Toby Seville - who still reminds me a bit of Chuck (albeit I've never seen the show, but that's besides the point).
- I thought the Chipettes did a better job of the Hot N Cold song than Katy Perry ever did :P
- Go find the Chipettes' version of (Beyonce's) Single Ladies on YouTube - it's SOO cute, them shaking their furry behinds and all, haha...
