Saw The A-Team
with the sibling last night - it's one of those movies he's been wanting to watch, and he's been preparing for it by watching the old show.
Went to the GSC in 1U - there was this weird funky smell that's like a mix of poo, puke with a hint of popcorn butter in there. I'm not the only one to have noticed: I can hear other people wondering about the smell in different dialects. That's Malaysia for you.
I will say this - I have never seen Bradley Cooper in a movie before. Speaking of the guy's figure, I've seen more of his Face abs on E! than anyone has in the entire movie (about 3 scenes where he's shirtless, tops). I'm still puzzled over Liam Neeson playing Hannibal - you can hear his Irish accent in the movie.
The checklist of A-Team hallmarks:
- "I PITY THE FOOL!" - None, but there's a "tribute" of sorts to that in the movie.
- B.A.'s van - One appearance early in the movie, and not (prominently) since.
- Hannibal's "I love it when a plan comes together" line - only said twice, and only once uttered by Mr Neeson.
- The show's opening narration (you know the one) - done in the end, leaving it open to the possibility of sequels if it does well.
I thought it was a little slow in the beginning as the film makers have to explain how the team got together, which I thought would've been a good time to hit the toilets if it wasn't so early into the movie.
MY complaint about most TV-to-big screen conversions is that the movie becomes a "two hour long episode" instead of a big screen adaptation. This doesn't feel like that to me.
My only beef with the ending is that if it does well enough to warrant SEQUELS, those will end up like a 2 hour long version of a typical episode of The A-Team.

Oh, and stick around for the post-credit stingers; half the original cast made cameos. I get why Mr T didn't want to do it and George Peppard is dead - I think if the latter was still alive, he wouldn't do it either.
I was entertained by the movie. It's up to you whether to watch it or not, it's a bonafide popcorn movie.
