Selangor's No Plastic Bag Saturday

It was announced last month that there would be no plastic bags given out by the super/hyper markets on every Saturday in the state starting this month.

A noble move, I say. But that would just mean that people like my mother would just go grocery shopping on Sundays instead cos the we need the plastic bags for the kitchen garbage (don't get me started on the implications). On the other hand, the supermarkets might just be less crowded on Saturdays if half the population thinks like her... or not. It's hard to say.

She was caught off guard about the plastic bag sitch when she went grocery shopping last Saturday. She got a free non woven bag, but for some reason she refuses to bring the other free non-woven bags that she already has from Carrefour that they gave out months ago. Sigh.
