The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus

First movie of 2010 - The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus.

The only reason I went to see this is to watch how Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell would step in after the death of Heath Ledger. I thought it worked in the context of the movie. And it's so nice of them to donate their earnings to his daugther, Matilda (see, that's why must update the old will and testament...).

Always fun to see Christopher Plummer, even though it's been decades since his role as Cpt Von Trapp in The Sound of Music (haha).

I can't really think of much else to say as the plot was so convoluted. It's one of those movies you're convinced was conceived when the writers were stoned or very high.

I think I'm one of those people who was too young to care who Tom Waits is, but as el diablo (or Mr. Nick, in this case) , he was not too bad.

One thing that struck me about Lily Cole (who plays the daughter, Valentina) was her heart-shaped face. For a model-turned actress, she wasn't too shabby lah.

I suppose if you got nothing else to watch, or are a fan of anyone in the cast, it wouldn't hurt to watch. It's better than watching one of those predictable movies (coughAvatarcough) with huge special effects budgets than this one. But I find it difficult to recommend unless you are a fan of Terry Gilliam.
