After a few years of procrastinating (and other things to do), I finally checked out Urbanscapes at KLPac today.
Don't get me started on the parking situation - I know they recommend public transport or carpooling, but KLPac is not the best place on the planet to walk to under the high noon sun. I thought I was early, but the car park was full inside. Had to wonder what time these people were here if they're not vendors.
Even despite leaving home around noon, I was still stuck behind the Projek Angkat Rumah, which was inching its way inside v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. Damn it. What do you expect, a whole bunch of city kids moving an entire wooden house for a couple of kilometres to the grounds? Sigh. Traffic was a nightmare, thanks to that ☹
The Urbanscapes marketplace was huge (sprawled over the grounds), but didn't really buy anything because it's way too hot to be buying anything under the hot sun. Went inside to the KLue booth and preordered the I_KL Moleskine (the batch got stuck in customs, I've been told) from the Cziplee booth at the KLPac lobby - they're now going for RM70 instead of the earlier mentioned RM75 or RM80. And they're giving away 2010 diaries with every purchase. Go get it if you're a Moleskine fan. And that was my major purchase of the day.
Also bought a I ♥ PJ button badge (RM2 each, RM5 for three) from the KLue booth - buyers are entitled for a shot at the lucky draw - and I drew a men's Rip Curl wallet. Sad - what the heck am I gonna do with it?
Had to mention that the place I parked on the grounds was muddy from yesterday's rain and the car was promptly stuck in the ditch - the only con about an automatic transmission car: there's no 4WD mode to get out of muddy spots. I told the KLPac crew, but they were a little slow in responding (to say the least). because there were also other cars stuck around the premises. Waited for at least half an hour before a passing young Malay family (couple + baby) helped me out: the husband and I pushed the car while the wife and baby were at the wheel helped step on the gas pedal on reverse.
I am grateful for their help - who knows how long I'd be stranded there if they didn't.
Came home, had a late lunch with the sibling and did some other chores. Oy.
Would I go again? It depends - if there was a return of Projek Angkat Rumah, then I guess not :P
