Saw Looper this week at the second home after hearing about it for at least a week now. Didn't help that Joseph Gordon Levitt (JGL)'s been everywhere promoting this movie like crazy - SNL, talk shows, podcasts... not to mention the discussions and reviews of said movie on the interwebs. There wasn't anything else I wanted to watch in the local cineplex, so what the heck. My previous knowledge of this movie was the basic gist and the movie poster. I had to resist listening to the Slate's Spoiler Special about it before watching; I'm only just listening to it now.
Loopers are basically assassins that get paid in silver (strapped to the victims, who are bound and masked) to kill and dispose of bodies that travel back in time from 2072 back to 2044, which is when this movie is set in. Time travel is already a thing in 2072, but it gets banned and only used by crime syndicates in this manner. The exposition begins pretty early in the form of JGL's voiceover. Pay attention to these.
There are lots of twists in this movie and if I go on about the movie any more, I might spoil it for some of you. I like the premise, I just can't stomach the (fake) blood and gore. What cracked me up was seeing Bruce Willis with pieces of hair stuck unto his bald head, not even combed over. They also took out any boob footage (though I heard they were still in during the press screening), but most of the swearing was left in.
Is this movie Rian Johnson's Inception? Not really - not mindfuck-y enough for me. I thought it was just so-so. If you're a sci-fi action fan or you want to see something that's not animated, adapted, sequel, or prequel - then go watch this one.

I'll leave you with this. You're welcome.
