Digital Mall free shuttle bus - yay?

Went to Digital Mall with the sibling (who finally plonked down the money for a Garmin GPS device).

I was surprised to find out that there is a free shuttle bus service between Digital Mall, Asia Jaya LRT station, and Millennium Square. In theory you CAN walk to Digital Mall from the LRT station and also Millennium Square, but with the crazy weather and if you're carrying a lot of money or an expensive gadget, would you take that chance? I might not pay the RM1 for the feeder bus, but I would take this.

While I rather prefer driving there at night when parking's free or over the weekend, but the only time I might use the free shuttle bus is during the day, during the week if I don't have car to drive? Some ridiculous circumstance like that.

Good to know, though - good to know.

Central Market - Bukit Bintang free shuttle

Found out that there's a free shuttle bus from Central Market to Bukit Bintang when I was in Central Market over the weekend. I didn't take a picture of the schedule because I didn't have a camera on me. There also wasn't anything printed that I could've just grabbed before I left.


So I did the next best thing - I emailed the people at Central Market for the bus schedule and was surprised I got a reply back. 

From Bukit Bintang (Opposite Times Square which is on the other side of the road and starbucks B.B Plaza) to Central Market

10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm, 4.30pm, 6.30pm, 7.30pm, 8.30pm.

From Central Market (car park main entrance) to Bukit Bintang

11am, 12noon, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm.

The main reason why I would take this is because it's a bitch to walk to the monorail station from KL Sentral because of the construction. I also have to mention that I don't like to drive down town unless it was Raya or Chinese New Year.

I'm not sure how long this would last, but I would attempt to try it at least once before they take it away.

25 calorie Swiss Miss? Bleaurgh.

Not everyone knows this about me, but I am a fan of Swiss Miss hot chocolate packet things. Anyone coming back from the States please buy a box back for me, please? :D 

I know you can whip up a batch of your own hot chocolate mix, but I can't be arsed yet.

They're not available everywhere, which can be a bitch because if you can't get it in KL, where else can you?

Anyway, was in Carrefour earlier and there wasn't my usual dark chocolate Swiss Miss, so I decided to branch out and try the diet one for a change...

A red flag was that the box was a little too light when I picked it off the shelf. And I was right when I opened the box. The individual packets were too light.

I usually use the coffee mug (left) for a typical packet of Swiss Miss and it'd only be 3/4 full - and would need to top up with some more water as it could be a tad too sweet - I had to use the tiny teacup on the right for a packet of the above. 

No wonder it's only 25 calories: it was only a quarter of a typical Swiss Miss packet and there was sweetener (don't ask me which one).

Reminder to self - never buy diet Swiss Miss EVER AGAIN.

I hate Maybank.

Here's why.

It's about that time of year when that road tax has to be renewed and I agreed to do it this time, thinking that I could do it on a Saturday.

Dad gave me a cash cheque a couple of days ago and with the banks only open 5 days a week (and perhaps the occasional Saturday) and I wasn't in the mood to go during lunch and deal with the crowd then, I decided to leave the house a little early and drive to DU to cash it.

When I got there it was only a minute to 9 a.m., rushed over from where I parked only to find that it only opens at 9.15 a.m.

WTF.

Other banks open at 9 a.m., Maybank open at 9.15 a.m. Kanasai.

So waited the 15 minutes and had to fight with other people who were also waiting outside the door. Liddat also can. I thought I had to "fight" old people to get a number right away - lucky I didn't have to.

I got the first number of the day and I rushed up the stairs because I heard my number being called. But at least I didn't have to wait, but still...

KLPac Open Day 2009

I'm just reminding myself to check out the KLPac Open Day at KLPac this year (if nothing else is happening on the day, that is) on Sunday, 18 Jan, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Didn't go last year as I was out of town that day.... This year should be no problems lah.

Basically, it's one whole day jam packed with FREE performances, visual art installations, theatre and cultural games, arts workshops and demonstrations, staged readings, show previews, film screenings and, of course, the ever popular guided tours.

And if that's not enough to keep you occupied there will be some 60 over stalls on the lawn selling all kinds of interesting goodies and great finds (courtesy of the Bijou Bazaar team)!

For the most part I want to go for the guided tour of the place, see if I had missed anything from all those times I was there for shows.

Update on the Mogwai gig

As far I know, the Mogwai gig here next month is on... even though it's not listed on their official site. Hmm.

Benefit's Brow Bar in Pavilion - Prices and Services

It's the weekend. Don't feel like doing long, long paragraphs. So here.

1. Finished reading Michael Ruhlman's Soul of a Chef and Chelsea Handler's My Horizontal Life. Liked them both in their own way.
   
   
2. Nuffnang's having a Hancock screening in a couple of weeks. As usual if you want to go: First, you have to be a Nuffnanger (check); two, you have to do a blog post titled, "Not Your Average Superhero" and send them the link of the post and some other stuff. Anyways, not going lah - unless there's a third Men in Black movie or something.
   
   
3. The follow up to Stephen Fry's memoir (Moab is My Washpot) is due in fall 2010. Woo hoo!
   
   
4. After 5 years, PPS has more interesting shit. Though not so sorry that I've not checked in more often over the last few years because I've not found out if they've automatic pinging like Technorati. Manually pinging blows, especially for lazy buggers like myself.

6. Weird Singapore canned drinks Anything and Whatever made their Malaysia entrance. So far only available at 7-Eleven (RM1.80 a can) and Jusco supermarkets (RM 9.30 for a carton of 6 cans, which is pretty freaking expensive). Have to give them props for the marketing gimmick of not labelling the flavour on the outside so you get them not knowing what you'll end up with. So far I've had orange fizzy and jasmine green tea. Bought two more cans of each after work today - just hope they'll be something different.
   
   
7. Changed the favicon with some help from this article (which took me a little while to decipher). Been itching to do this particular hack for years but thought impossible because none of the free online storage sites do .ico files (I've checked). Now I find out it doesn't have to be the case: just follow the instructions, and voilà, you don't have the orange Blogger favicon anymore! Or you can try this site (which creates and hosts created favicons) and let me know what you think.
   
   
8. Travis is coming down to Singapore (Fort Canning) for SINGfest on August 2, which I just realised is the same day as the MTV Asia Awards in Genting. Damn shrewd these Singaporeans - first they steal Death Cab for Cutie from us, and now this too?! HOW CAN?!
   

Got my Coach wallet!!!

Got my Coach Hamptons signature mini wallet at last, for about 60% of the Malaysian retail price (woo hoo!), which I wanted to get as a birthday present/bonus splurge/superfluous necessity.

But not without some hassle.

Was at the post office first thing this morning, anticipating the worse.

Long story short, I had to go to the supervisor's office in the back to plea my case and convince them that I wasn't committing mail fraud and theft. They had to photocopy my IC and everything. Oh well. Better than returning the package, which is WAAYY worse.

Reminder to self: Next time I do this, thing must be addressed in MY NAME.

And yes, I only got into office at half-past. No, wasn't caught out.

Been using what little of my energy that's left to find this Coach wallet...

The Hamptons Signature Mini Wallet

...cheap online because I absolutely refuse to pay nearly RM900 for it locally in the Coach stores. You gotta be kidding if you expect me to do that. It's even cheaper in America (US$158 pre-tax = RM520, give or take), for crying out loud!

But so far eBay's not turning up anything substantial (missed out on an auction due to geographical reasons) and I'm not sure if I want to get it from Singapore.

The idea (obviously) is cheap and authentic. A snag is that this is just out new, not last season or anything.

I'm even seriously contemplating scouring Petaling Street for a fake.

At least if I ever lost it, I won't feel the pain like I did my last wallet, *sniff*
