First MCU movie in the cinema this year - finally got to watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Because it was over 2 hours long, I knew a 9 p.m. screening wasn't gonna cut it. Thankfully, I found a 8 p.m. screening nearby, AND I finally got to use the credit card promo (RM10 GSC ticket) this year in a mall where the parking is RM1 for the first 3 hours. Got there a little after 8 p.m. (after going through the screening procedure at the cineplex entrance), and only sat through about 10 minutes of ads before the movie started. (I would've been mad if the ads ran any longer)
- The bus fight scene was pretty cool way to kick off the action in this movie.
- Talk about having an old dad that's at least a thousand years old, sheesh. (OMG don't get me started on how old the mother would be). That said, Tony Leung is pretty cool and badass in this movie, all things considered. But also not the first time a parent sacrificed themselves in the MCU?
- The BMW product placement in this movie is really damn obvious lor LOL
- How did the Iron Gang make their way to that compound?
- Have to love that grandma is asking when Shaun and Katy are getting married, because.
- OMG it really was the Abominable from the Hulk movies (he's memorably ugly)... was it really Tim Roth though?
- How did Morris the hundun get stuck with Trevor Slattery on the compound? Yup, Ben Kingsley's back in the MCU, folks.
- The hundun GPS is pretty cute. Slattery, not so much LOL
- Michelle Yeoh addressing the hundun for making his way back is pretty cute and funny.
- I'm sure Razor Fist won't be happy with what happened to his BMW lol
- Either time goes by really slowly in Ta Lo, or Katy is a natural with a bow and arrow, picking it up so quickly...
- Does this make Ta Lo the Chinese Asgard?
- Anyone who remembers Wong (from the Dr Strange movie) would know that he would be down for a karaoke sesh (him bopping along to Single Ladies still cracks me up).
- I could've sworn I heard some Malay in the movie somewhere. Is it just me?
- Let's be honest - Bobby Lee could've also been Jon-Jon. Like Michelle Yeoh wasn't enough Malaysian representation that they needed Ronny Chieng too?
- Ronny plays a pretty good Ah Beng character.
- Who knew all it took to control said 10 rings was (basically) with tai chi moves?
- Not the first time I've seen the big bad get killed by inserted objects in the last 7 days.
- So this means the people of Ta Lo don't have to stay where they are any more?
