Was flipping through the latest issue of KLue at MPH and there was a brief mention of the site Idiot Drivers in KL, and there was a thumbnail of one of the pictures I had submitted...

Things one can buy for Qing Ming

Every year there will be at least ONE piece about Qing Ming/Cheng Beng/Tomb Sweeping Day in the paper, one of them usually featuring some prayer paraphernalia shop somewhere in the country who's making and selling what's new in the burn offering department for the dearly departed, like this piece. Who knew these things were so damn expensive - and some more it literally goes up in smoke. Sheesh.

Anyway, went to the pasar malam yesterday with the sibling and decided to check out the stall selling these things (I wouldn't know where to find such a shop in PJ, sadly) and saw this...

A big screen TV and satellite TV setup - dish, remote and decoder. Decided to get one for the heck of it for the grandfather and because it's only RM5.

I wonder what will they have next year.

The Potong ad brouhaha

I'm not one of those people that doesn't hate the country's biggest ISP (*coughStreamyxcough*).

Lately there's been unnecessary brouhaha about P1's Potong campaign, where they encourage you to potong ("cut") your existing ISP for them. Out of the lot, the catchiest one for me personally is the one below...



I don't know why women ONE woman was offended by the ads. I just think it's hilarious. And of course there's now a "war" between them and Streamyx, with Streamyx coming back with their own attack ads.

As for me, I don't really see a point of changing ISPs too soon as I hear that the WiMax is overrated both in coverage and speed (not to mention cost). Streamyx might be a tad slow, but at least got connection and the bill is still 2 digits :P

Besides, I do most of my net surfing at home and the laptop barely leaves the house. So yeah, not one to bitch too much about it.

Random froggie pictures

Weather's all warm again - I lost the inspiration I had earlier, so I'm putting in another filler of pictures of frogs for no good reason - so there.

The extremely loud bull frog that hid in the darkness of the next door neighbour's fish pond when it was rainy last week. It was so freaking loud I wanted to hunt it down for frog's legs :P

It was the best I got taking pictures blindly in the drizzle (knew the general direction of the racket, but wasn't sure where it was), and with a considerable amount of zoom. Even my mum was amazed that he was so big.

I don't know how this one got in the house - my mum found this one on their bathroom mirror one rainy night as well. Lost frog, methinks.

Don't worry - the sibling got him in the container and brought it outside, where it belongs.

Ahmadinejad, Ahmadinnerjacket and Ahmanutjob

Comics have been intentionally butchering the name of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for comedic effect for ages, and it's worked (for the most part). The ones that I keep hearing are:

Mahmoud Ahmadinnerjacket - this doesn't get old for me; I still giggle every time I hear it cos it's the closest to Ahmadinejad; methinks Letterman and Craig Ferguson uses this in their monologues from time to time.

Mahmoud Ahmembersonlyjacket - Jimmy Kimmel's version, not as funny but still appreciate the effort.

Mahmoud Ahmanutjob - Heh. Pretty sure someone's said it, but I can't remember who it was.

If it's not those, then it's "Mahmoud Ahma*mumblemumble*" where they intentionally mumble out the rest of the name.

The Things One Does Out of Boredom

So as I was driving to work this morning, there was a discussion on red.fm's Breakfast Show between the DJs about Kal Penn leaving House for the White House.

As AXN is some episodes behind, they asked on the air how his character was gonna be written out of the show. So I sent in an anonymous text message to the station about how the character off-ed himself and left it at that.

About 10-15 minutes later and already in the office, Radiohead's 15 Step went off (forgot to put the ohone to silent), saw the number (yes, I had the radio station's number in my phone), and had to step outside to take the call. Whether I was actually on or off the air I had no idea because the show is (technically) only from 6 - 9 a.m, but they did ask me how they wrote him off the show. *HE SHOT HIMSELF IN THE HEAD* I kinda doubt that I was on the air at the time lah, but still...

After some moaning about how the character was starting to grow on me, the conversation ended. Just as well as I had to get back to work and my hands were shaking...

It's starting the day a little different. Bit exciting also lah, in the sad kinda way. Oh well.

What NOT to wear to a concert

Here's the main thing I usually hear from other people...

YOU DON'T WEAR A SHIRT OF THE BAND YOU'RE GOING TO SEE!!

I guess that also includes not wearing a shirt you had just bought off the merchandise stand in the concert. I thought it was so WRONG, even if you're (allegedly) their No. 1 fan.

Which I try not to, but I guess you could always wear a plain coloured, logo free tee shirts to avoid any faux pas.

The only people who could get away with this would have to be the young, female tween fans of The Jonas Brothers....
