My first movie in the cinema this year and yeah, decided on The Suicide Squad. Mostly for a couple of reasons:
- I would rather watch anything bloody during the day than at night - the body count in these movies are pretty high.
- I think it's almost at the end of the theaterical run here, so I better watch it while I still can.
Bought a ticket online (RIP paper tickets), got there with minutes to spare but still sat through almost 20 minutes of ads (can't say I blame them though - they haven't been able to operate for almost half a year now) before the movie. The room wasn't even full by SOP standards - there was probably a dozen people?
I'm guessing (haven't exactly read that one through) that one of the SOP is that you can only pre-purchase concessions and not crowd the counters for popcorn on a whim. For the prices they're charging for popcorn in 2021, I might as well buy a small bag of Garrett's. Actually, at this point I would rather just buy other savoury snacks on offer but the one I wanted wasn't available, so ya, too bad la.
No complaining about spoilers - it's been out for months by now (maybe not in Malaysia, but that's not the point).
- You know Flula Borg, Nathan Fillion and Pete Davidson are in this, but like that scene in Deadpool 2, they die off pretty quickly.
- The ladies are the MVPs of this movie.
- As much as I cringe at fake gore, but I always enjoy a good escape choreography.
- I'm always tickled whenever I see Taika Waititi in a movie (even in flashback form); I forgot that he was in this one.
- I dunno how they (Waititi and the kid playing younger Cleo) scaled that high, or just damn good CGI.
- Blackmailing Waller into letting them go is not the worst ending ever.
