Week 22, 2026

Short work week, with Wednesday being Hari Raya Haji and a lot of people would've just take the rest of the week off cos of the school holidays.

  • Might've gotten whatever it was Dad was having, but so far it's been mostly the inflamed throat and the slight runny nose.
  • Saw two movies this week: Couture on Wednesday, The Sheep Detectives on Saturday.
  • Went to my first chiro appointment in a long time on Wednesday. I did have a legit reason to go - there has been some tightness in my neck which I think is a trigger for the cervicogenic headaches I've been getting regularly for years now at this point? There was some adjustment, and I feel ok at the moment. Was told to monitor for soreness. Any way, there was a first timer promo and I got a coupon I could offset the follow up appointment? Idk.

The Sheep Detectives

NGL, when I first saw the trailer for this months ago, I already decided I was gonna watch this, regardless, cos it seems so 3 8.

Ended up in Starling cos it seemed less crowded than the other ones? Yeah, that's it.

  • It was an interesting change of pace watching Hugh Jackman die in the first 20 minutes of the movie, after years of watching him trying to die as Wolverine (until Logan, obvs) and back again as alternate universe Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine.
  • A butcher named Ham LOL
  • Waitaminit, orf is an actual DISEASE?!
  • Fainting sheep will always make me laugh
  • It's just Dame Emma Thompson just being Emma Thompson at this point in her life lah LOL
  • Yes, I cried ONE time watching this.
  • You gotta sing along to 500 Miles over the end credits la
Ok lah, it's sad in some parts, but also silly in its own way. I guess it's kid friendly in the same way that every other Disney and Pixar movie is, even with all the sad sad stuff.

Couture

Went to see the French movie with Angelina Jolie this morning cos it was a public holiday, and I had nothing else going on. I also was gonna spend Saturday morning watching The Sheep Detectives, so... yeah.

It was just me, and maybe 5 other people at the morning screening.

It's been awhile (or a first, I don't know) since I last saw a foreign language movie in the cinema. I wasn't sure how what's the ratio of French to English on this going in, but it probably feels like 60:40?

It's basically Angelina Jolie playing an American (who conveniently can speak French) indie film director who travels to Paris to shoot a vampire short for a fashion show, only to find out that she's got cancer while there, and has to grapple with all that while still having to work. The movie also focuses on the star of the short film, a fresh-faced Sudanese model, and a make up artist who is trying to be a memoirist on the side?

  • I can only imagine Angelina Jolie reliving her cancer journey through her character...
  • I don't know if the young man she tried to hook up with knew she got cancer, or if the Censorship Board's efforts in excising the sex and nudity made that more confusing.
I'm glad it's not that long. I thought it was just okay.

Week 21, 2026

4 day work week for me; took Tuesday off for a medical appointment. Feeling the
blahs this week.
  • Saw The Mandalorian and Grogu on Saturday morning.
  • Saw Cluedo on Saturday night.
  • Le Creuset F&F sale this week. Didn't get anything at all.
  • Was kinda busy on Sunday, for stupid reasons?

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu

Hadn't realised that it's been a number of years since there was a Star Wars movie of any kind. But them cashing in on Grogu is *chef's kiss*

Decided on a 11 a.m.-ish screening at the second home GSC so that I'm not rushing, etc. Understandably, it's more crowded than usual cos it's family friendly movie, so there's kids around.

It wasn't until I took the first bathroom break (made the mistake of getting the cheese stick combo that came with a huge ass drink) and switched to another seat (so that I can cackle without being judged, and to get away from a couple of dudes who's BO I didn't agree with, on top of not respecting personal space by getting seats RIGHT NEXT TO ME instead of leaving a gap seat), that I realised some kid was watching something on a phone so loud that you can hear it during the quiet moments in the movie. Then I saw that it was a kid with special needs. I get that everyone needs to be out in the world and all, but the parents should know better? Idk lah

Went in to this not having seen much of the TV show, only going by YouTube recaps.

  • Props to the puppeteers operating Grogu... all of them. The technology underneath the robe is mind blowing sial
  • Everything Grogu does in this is adorbs AF. Also can't believe he only baby at 50 years old. Dunno how old Yoda was back then.
  • I was also laughing at the Anzellans too, and their interaction with Grogu.
  • Was mostly busy cackling at the puppets
  • We still dunno what species Grogu and Yoda are.
  • Didn't think I'd hear the name Jabba the Hutt in a Star Wars movie in 2026, or that he had a kid voiced by Jeremy Allen White.
  • Was wondering where Scorsese was in this, and... was it the food vendor?
  • And also props to the dudes who were actually Mandalorian-ing while Pedro phones it in for most of this LOL Oklah, he got to show his face only halfway in and presumably do some stuff, but still.

Of all the non-Skywalker saga Star Wars movies, this one is the least objectionable (don't get me started on Rogue One). I guess you might get more of a kick out of this than me if you've seen and enjoyed the show. But if you want to just cuci mata watch Grogu, it's that kind of popcorn movie lah

Week 20, 2026

  • Kinda sad that the FT-operated stalls at the neighbourhood food court got shut down by MBPJ cos apparently the stall licensing rules say cannot? Sigh.
  • This week, PCOS (polcystic ovary syndrome) sudah tukar nama to PMOS - polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome. Cool I guess, but still not gonna be covered by medical insurance or whatever in the near future, cos even testing and screening for it is also not cheap right now. But now all the doctors specialising in it would have to amend their marketing materials.
  • Saw the new Guy Ritchie movie, In the Grey, on Saturday morning. Was running late (but not terribly so - more like I thought the ads would be 15 minutes long, etc), so wasn't sure how much of the start of the movie I had missed.
  • Finally used up the RM60 Parkson vouchers during the weekend event at 1U on a pair of slippers I had been meaning to replace.
  • Went to the first Kopishop Konversations show of the year at Mo PAC, which is the basement of PJ De Inn, near the PJ Hilton, on Saturday night.
  • Got some Aveda and Laneige samples too on Saturday, after getting brief massages from the shoulders up, LOL
  • Sunday - Spent a couple hours at IPC (mostly to get the SAMLA container on offer) and KLCC (to check out the clearance sale happening at Isetan), with a foot massage and a detour to one of the optical shops that opened up in the SS2 punya rumah. Not sure if I got energy/thick face to check out the others in the near future.

In the Grey

This movie (for a Guy Ritchie movie) is sorta unusually undermarketed? I think I vaguely remember some of the cast members doing the usual press rounds awhile ago.

As usual, I got a very last minute ticket to watch this at Starling cos it's the only one around with a morning screening time. In spite of the 10.45 a.m. start, the movie had already started by the time I got there, so I don't know how much exposition I've missed.
A covert team of elite operatives are living in the shadows. When a ruthless despot steals a billion-dollar fortune, they're sent to take it back-an impossible heist that erupts into a deadly game of strategy, deception and survival.
  • Am always tickled to see Fischer Stevens in anything, especially as a sleazy lawyer who keeps losing to Eiza Gonzalez's Rachel in court as she tries to cut off his client's assets to force an in - person meeting.
  • I suppose once you've unveiled all the possible escape routes in the first act, they're all gonna be burnt in the third act.
  • I dunno if Sid and Bronco are gay, or are just that comfortable with each other that the homoeroticism is part of the deal.
It's okay, I don't hate it.

I'm kinda glad that this one is kinda snappy at 97 minutes. It was only half past noon by the time the credits started rolling.
