Klook-ing My Way around the Little Red Dot - Madame Tussauds Singapore

The following morning, I realised that I didn't much planned for the day before flying back.

So I sucked it up, bought a ticket to Madame Tussauds Singapore (with the Marvel 4D thing - S$42; paid S$21.77 post coupon code). I also used a different coupon code (told you I had accumulated a lot of Klook codes) for the Sentosa Express (UP: S$4; paid S$2.34) train cos I sure as heck ain't walking from Vivo to Sentosa. Ain't got no time for that.

The thing about Klook vouchers is that you still need to change the voucher for an actual ticket. I didn't know that you can change those at the kiosks scattered near the ticketing counters, so I got in the line (which moved quickly, to their credit) and got a ticket. No one at the counter told me I could use the kiosks (until I read some activity reviews on it on Klook) until after. Oh well.

The train was crowded AF at Vivo (third floor, just follow the signage), but cleared quickly since most people on the train were getting off at the first station, where Universal Studios was. I got off at the second stop, Imbiah.

Four flights of escalators later (I would've rioted if it wasn't), I finally got to Madame Tussauds. There was a staff at the bottom of the hill giving out vouchers, both for ticketing and also for the gift shop. Since I already had the voucher, she gave me gift shop vouchers, which I didn't use.

I was so early, the person standing outside practically ushered me inside to the ticketing counter so I could change the Klook voucher for an actual ticket. I asked about the crowd situation and was told that it typically gets crowded later in the day. It was me and a few other tourists at that time of day.

If you've been to other Madame Tussauds, most of the "standard" figures you might see are the  Hollywood celebs. When you first walk in, it's the hall with (most of) the world leaders (sans Trump, if anyone's wondering), but I don't think other Madame Tussauds would have figures of Mr and Mrs Lee, Goh Chok Tong and the current PM Lee. Even human Winnie the Pooh, er, President Xi and his wife are there.

Then it was the athletes, which I didn't bother too much with.

Halfway through what I thought was the Hollywood movies section, I run into...

PCK! and...
Jack Neo

Besides both PCK (not even Gurmit Singh) and Jack Neo, the only thing that makes it distinctly Singaporean is that they have a number of Singaporean personalities here, like the late Huang Wenyong (why him? cos he died?), Zoe Tay, JJ Lin (who I didn't know is Singaporean), Stefanie Sun... which if you're neither Singaporean or Malaysian, is about as interesting to you as the athletes and some other people here were to me. Fair enough lah, I suppose.

There's also some Korean stars and KPop groups. There's an entire section dedicated to Bollywood royalty, and by that I mean SRK, Kajol (she still acting meh?), the Bachans... by that I meant Amitabh and his DIL Aishwarya Rai.

If you're wondering where Hugh Jackman was... he's in the gift shop. As early, not that buff Wolverine. There, I said it.

As for the Marvel 4D movie experience, it was a total waste of money for me. If you don't like the shaking seats and the whole bit, don't spend the extra money on this. Also 10 minutes I'm never getting back.

I think there was also supposed to be a boat ride of some sort when you first walk in, but the ride is so short, it was a bit dumb to go through with it.

All in all, not really worth the full price of admission. But discounted, I can live with. Also the place is not huge, so if it's not crowded it won't take any more than an hour or two. The thing about going to a place like this alone is that you don't have someone else to help take pictures of you, unless you brought a selfie stick like a sad sack to Madame Tussauds.
