Paid RM1 (got one of the Thursday uMobile member vouchers, which are so hard to get cos they're so limited, but also expiring this week) to see Dark Phoenix at Pyramid because other screening times at other outlets were too early or too late. And there's really not much else I would want to watch.
If you've not seen this movie and hate spoilers, well...
- Dunno whether to laugh or cringe that this movie had to have the X-Men prefix in some territories to let people know that this is an X-Men movie.
- Was I the only one wondering how Charles drove the car if he's paralysed from the waist down...?
- While I get the "mutants age slower than humans" conceit, but I have no idea how old anyone is supposed to be in that 1992. But the fashion kinda lines up...?
- Now I know how Jessica Chastain figures into this movie (getting possessed by aliens was not what I was expecting), but after all the other MCU parts she turned down, why this one...? There's no way she did a lot of fight training for her part.
- I suppose killing off her character is one sure way for JLaw never having to do these movies again. Same for Sophie Turner.
- I laugh like a loon every time I see Fassbender in these movies. Without fail.
- I laughed even harder thinking about them miming using their powers when they were making it, even Fassbender's kek sai face.
- I wonder if it was still awkward for JLaw and Hoult to play an onscreen couple...?
- I thought I recognised the ending from The Dark Knight Rises.
I thought it was beh pai lah for this franchise, but I didn't think it was as bad as everyone else is making it out to be. The ending sort of works for these movies. Luckily, this is the final FOX-owned X-Men movie until the inevitable Disney reboot/revival, etc later down the road.
