Hannan Azlan - Homecumming

I didn't know the enfant terrible of the KL comedy scene was even back, or that this show was happening until I heard the BFM interview some days ago. Because it was gonna be in KLPAC's Indicine, I should just get a ticket to check it out for myself before it sold out (which it did) because of the capacity. Title also was to be expected, LOL.

I'll admit, I don't mind them (gotta respect the pronouns these days) in small doses (as part of a lineup or something), but an entire show was another thing.

The show might have sold out, but if I have to guess, the room was about 65% friends and family? Again, me being the minority rando who showed up who thought it was a good idea to spend a Friday night there.

At least the first half of the show was stacked with guys - Brian Tan (audience fluffer), Irfan Mansor and the teased secret "favourite act", which turned out to be Thenesh Skip (whom I've not seen or heard from for awhile now cos I think he got/had a day job, so okla, give them that).

Second half of the show was their time. If you've seen them before, the act is them saying the filthiest stuff (which also included embarrassing the guys in the lineup with things I cannot repeat here) while strumming the ukulele. There's also crowd work, but not sure if it counts if it's people you already know IRL.

Having the show start at 9 p.m. was a bit of a double edged sword: on one hand, not having to rush through dinner was kinda nice, but on the other hand, they were cutting it really close cos apparently they gotta clear out by 11 p.m. and they were finally getting in a groove?

NB.

  • Had to practically U-turn to go back down Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah because they closed the access to Jalan Tun Razak from Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (had to look up Google Maps for the road names). Dunno if it's permanent or not.
  • Guess the Sentul West MRT station is almost finished. But I still wouldn't want to walk to KLPAC and/or Sentul Depot at night cos that path dark and creepy lah
