Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (spoiler-y)

Watching this on a weekend because it's too long for a weeknight. For once, the room was about 70% full? It was one of the larger screening rooms some more.

  • Of course Shuri was attempting to synthesize the heart shaped herb using science.... which kinda answered the question I had after the first movie.
  • Okoye's dig at MIT being like "Wakandan village school" level was funny AF
  • Hang on, was that Lake Bell? (It was dark AF)
  • Er wow, that was short lived.
  • I wonder if people are looking up Fenty Beauty #440 now LOL (I know I did, even though I've tried the said foundation before and didn't like it that much on me)
  • Namor being another character I might've seen on Cartoon Network back in the day as a kid, I had been wondering for awhile now when they're gonna bring him into the MCU and in what form (like Aquaman, Namor had always been a white dude, for all intents and purposes).
  • If you watch The Daily Show about as much as the average TDS viewer, you would also be like "that's not Trevor", but apparently he's back as the voice of the A.I. More lines than before.
  • I guess making the cousin come back as the ancestor Shuri would meet after taking the heart shaped herb to be Black Panther (let's be honest - who else did you think was gonna be Black Panther?)
  • Who woulda thought that de Fontaine and Ross were married to each other?! WTFBBQ
  • Does this mean Ross is now a fugitive? I'm guessing he's gonna be practically Wakandan now.
  • Yeah, if I was Shuri, I also wouldn't want to fight M'Baku in those challenge fights without the Panther powers too... which was what happened in that first movie right? T'Challa had to have the powers removed to make things even? They could've at least told everyone else in attendance that Shuri was ok giving M'Baku the throne so that they don't have to be on those precarious rocks..
  • I guess it was a good thing Shuri didn't burn the funeral garb the first time, when told to by her mother?
  • Of course there had to be a secret kid ALSO NAMED T'Challa
NGL, the cold open (of T'Challa's funeral) was sad AF, but not as sad as the second funeral later in the movie when Ramonda finally kicked the bucket (does this mean Angela Basset's MCU contract is over, or will they bring her back for flashbacks or as multiverse version of Ramonda?). For how sad (thematically) it is, I appreciated the quips to lighten things up a touch. Also props to them for having to pivot after the passing of Chadwick Boseman to focus on the ladies of his life - his mother, sister, ex (?) and also (to an extent) general of the Dora Milaje?
