Finally found an excuse to go back to the local MBO - their midweek promo is like RM10, which is not a bad deal, especially in these times. And it's the only one with a 8 pm-ish screening time for a 2 hour plus movie. Missed the first few minutes, but I don't think it mattered THAT much. Ended up watching it in the family friendly playroom hall by myself because it's a school night. The only good thing about watching it alone is I get to second screen this without judgment...Also managed to get home around 10 something, despite stopping to change membership cards after the movie.
- It's been so long since the first movie that the person playing Mary is now old enough to play both parts, kicking Michelle Borth to the kerb.
- Billy/Shazam is definitely missing the wisdom of Solomon.
- Props for the blatant Skittles product placement.
- This is the most anyone has seen of Djimon Hounsou in the comicbook movies he's in (he's been in quite a number of them). Dude also cleaned up nicely at the end, going around to see the planet.
- Having Dame Helen Mirren read the letter ad verbatim was stupid hilarious, but both her and Lucy Liu are kinda wasted in this piece. So's Rachel Zegler, I give her that, even though we all know she did it for the money. Even Billy/Shazam! was like, wtf how are the three of you sisters LOL (the age and face difference is very apparent). Half sisters, sure... but they cannot be sisters from the same mother la.
- I get this movie was supposed to come out sooner (thanks, pandemic), but kinda awkward seeing Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman post Gunn-Safran takeover.
I thought it was okay, but I think a lot of people will just wait for this to come out on streaming...
