This morning was the erm, fan presale of the upcoming Russell Peters' KL gig next year.
Perhaps due to the complaints about the crowd management in Malawati stadium last time, this time the show is going to be at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil (fka Putra Indoor Stadium). I haven't been back to Bukit Jalil specifically for years now (driving past on the Bukit Jalil highway en route to Mines doesn't exactly count), especially that stadium. Ticket prices were RM198, RM298 and RM398, and that was before fees and taxes. When it comes to comedy shows, I'm usually more of the mid range budget - not too cheap for nosebleed seats, but not flush enough for the expensive seats. And the guy makes fun of people in the front rows. So that's not even an option.
The ticketing system this time was new to me, but if you tried to get tickets to Ed Sheeran or whatever in the past, you had more experience with it than I did. I checked the seat map and ticket prices beforehand the night before to see what's at stake.
Once you key in the presale code, you have two options: either you pick, or let the system pick. At this point in my life, all I want is an unobstructed view, even if it was gonna be across the field from the stage. So I picked a front row seat in a section that people weren't also frantically trying to buy themselves (you can tell when someone's also sitting on those seats because you can't pick them). Which took probably under 5 minutes. When I went with having the system pick a seat for me, I was put in a virtual holding room, like the Coldplay ticket craze of 2016. When you buy the ticket, they also asked for name and IC number (so that it would be printed on the ticket as a scalping countermeasure?), but I seriously doubt that anyone would be cross checking IDs at the door, that would take too long.
In case anyone else was wondering, there's GST charges and "additional fees" (whatever that meant). But I'm still not sure if they'll email the actual ticket before the event or if you have to collect at the door. I would rather it be the former cos the latter WOULD SUCK BAAALLLLSSS if 16,000 people had to collect at the entrance at the same time.
