Week 41, 2018

Lot of late afternoon rain this week. Beats the muggy heat any time.
  • In a sad turn of events, it seems like the standalone post offices have started to charge parking..  (maybe to stop people working nearby from parking for free, or to keep the peskies out?). Or at least (anecdotally) my local one and the one in Brickfields. With first 30 minutes free. I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't RM2 per subsequent hour. At least give la first hour free. WTFBBQ.
  • Contrary to popular belief, pappadoms are supposed to be used as erm, seasoning, in your BLR and are not meant to be consumed as appetisers, as the Penang Consumers Association found that commercially available ones contain excessive levels of salt and are telling people to go slow on them. I've been crushing them into my curried rice before this brouhaha, and also not a lot of BLR places would give you more than a couple of pieces anyway, so I don't see what the big deal is.
  • Ministry of Tourism's bright ideas: to make more long weekends, and to spread/stagger school holidays so the tourist spots aren't overrun by tourists. Personally I'm not sure if that's a good idea cos it's just longer congestion for people living in the tourist areas.
  • Former Top Chef cheftestant only given one year to live.
  • After the departure of Heidi, Tim, and Zac Posen, the producers have finally found people to host (Karlie Kloss), mentor (Christian Siriano) and judge Project Runway next season.
  • Tried my luck with BuyandShip this week. Here's my referral code.
  • Checked out two comedy shows two nights in a row at a new space in downtown KL.
  • Finally checked out KL Gateway Mall. That place is D-E-D dead. I would've been mad about the RM3 parking if not for the RM10 minimum spend for free parking.
