Waited months at this point for this movie to pop up on GSC's International Screens, so I almost forgot to watch. Because it was a Tuesday night and I managed to get a RM7.50 ticket in the morning, there were fewer than a dozen people watching this in Hall 5 at 1U's GSC. At least the seats were nice and plush.
- Liam Neeson gets to keep his Irish accent, haha. And of course he faked his own death, you don't get someone like Liam Neeson in your movie only to merely DIE in the first 10 minutes. That's what those other guys were for.
- You don't get Colin Farrell in your movie to be a good guy; you get Colin Farrell in your movie to play (at the very least) a sleazeball.
- Did Harry have a cover story for what he does for a living? Cos there's no way everyone else except his wife and (late) kid didn't know he was a thief...?
- Did any of the other widows knew what their husbands did?
- I think the only reason why anyone did this movie at all was to work with Steve McQueen.
- I was kinda distracted by Daniel Kaluuya's choice to only button the top button of his outerwear. In freaking Chicago.
It's a little over 2 hours long, which I have to admit, could be shorter if they took out a number of lingering shots and stuff that added nothing to the plot or backstory. Both the planning and the carrying out of the heist kinda bored me. Not really for me, but I'm also glad I didn't pay full price also.
For the love of Pete, I hope this is a one-off but that's what I also said about John Wick and the third movie is coming out this year.
