Tonight is finally the end of Chinese New Year - Chap Goh Meh. Still managed to collect some angpau in absentia, so yay. Today is also Thaipusam. So yah.
A lot of TV-related news this week, one of the items I was most excited about is The Good Wife/Good Fight spinoff "Elsbeth", featuring Carrie Preston's recurring character Elsbeth Tascioni, who's always been a fan favourite. So far only pilot is ordered, but I wouldn't mind if it actually got picked up. (I kinda dropped out of TGW around the time Will died and I never got into the TGF, even though I got nothing against Diane Lockhart). There's also a potential Matlock revival in the works, which I'm also curious about as someone who's probably never gonna watch the original (same goes for Perry Mason).
- Is anyone really surprised that The Blacklist is finally ending? OMG that one has gone way off the rails probably about halfway through the run. As much as I enjoy James Spader on the small screen, I can't la with this one.
- Spent some of the week catching up on Dirty Jobs, which I didn't know was back on Discovery, albeit on their streaming platform, discovery+ . It's kinda weird/awkward watching Mike Rowe do some of these jobs at his age now, but no less entertaining to watch, because he's doing those jobs at his age now.
- Mum won RM1000 in vouchers in some Pavilion Bukit Jalil spending contest (apparently the winner really went out and spent about RM100,000, so kinda hard to beat), but because of prior family commitments (ie. chap goh meh prayers and lunch with the in-laws), I had to go collect on her behalf, which is better than me going to aforementioned prayers and lunch, but still. Was right in that at least some of the vouchers would be kind of useless, the only good one was several hundred RM worth of Parkson vouchers, which is only okay cos the Parkson there is somewhere between regular Parkson and Parkson Elite.
- IKEA jumping on the beef wellington bandwagon, which is still kinda expensive for a meal there for over RM40 a plate, but still waaayyy cheaper than a portion at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant, which cost 3 digits for a slice and sides.
