Muse - Will of the People World Tour, Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil

NGL, as much as I wasn't excited about the first venue for this "only South East Asia stop" (Bukit Kiara Esquestrian Park), but I lagi wasn't excited when it was announced that they're moving it to Bukit Jalil main stadium (not Axiata). I was kinda dreading it; I've been telling people that place not for human one.

Left home about 7 something, cos I'm not nuts enough to go any earlier (organisers said the wristband collection was gonna be from 11 a.m.). The only thing was that there was no parking left around the stadium, so I had to pivot to Plan B, which was to park and ride at a Sri Petaling LRT line station. Ended up paying another toll to go back down to Awan Besar LRT (which is a couple stations before Bukit Jalil, so it wasn't going to be a long ride), parked kinda haphazardly, hoping damn hard the whole night that nothing happens to the car (it's a Park and Ride station, but there's not that much parking, and it's dark AF cos the lights don't work). If nothing else, I didn't have to pay parking, so it was just the RM3 roundtrip LRT ride.

By the time I got there, it was already 8 something and I inadvertently did a lap outside the stadium looking for the stupid wristband redemption tent. I was hot, sweaty, grumpy, and tired by the time I found it (it really was in one of the parking areas), but I didn't want to cuss them out so I just let them scan the ticket, got the wristband and fucked off to the nearest entrance I could get to, which I knew for sure I had walked past not 10 minutes before. Made it through bag check unscathed (I made eye contact with the dude, quietly daring him to pat me down or what, but he just waved me through) - my camera, soft water bottle (they only said you can't bring in hard sided containers, so..), etc made it. Only intermittently sipped the water I brought, cos fuck 'em.

Only finally made it to the standing pen area before 9 p.m.. Kinda glad I wasn't any earlier and had missed the opening act Kyoto Protocol. Oh wells. Because of the no outside food and drink rule, they were also selling food and drink inside, but I didn't bother to find out how much, but funnily enough they were selling kuih in the stadium LOL

No luck getting merch this time cos everything was gone (except for long sleeve shirt and tote bags) by the time I got there. (My guess is they've been there since morning too?) Money saved is the only upside.

Because it's Malaysian timing (and thanks to setlist.fm), figured they were only going on before 9.30 p.m., and for the most part was right cos they really came on at 9.25 p.m. LOL I don't feel bad at all for people who had been waiting hours by that point.

Talk about stage dressing...

NGL, kinda creepy AF, more so when it was moving left and right the whole show
like the doll from Squid Game

The show was okay, but you know they also getting old already when they're using video interstitials to get breaks between songs, haha. (Back in the day, they were known to power through one). They also looked kinda sunburnt (news got out that they were spotted in Langkawi with their families for holiday earlier in the week), especially Chris the bassist LOL

Let's not wait another 16 years for them to be back in this neck of the woods lor.

PS.

  • Besides waiting at least 10 minutes for the return train, managed to reach home pretty quickly with some minor traffic. If I had parked in that vicinity, who knows how long I would've been stuck there trying to leave, along with everyone else who got onsite parking...
  • Apparently they swapped out We Are Fucking Fucked from WOTP for Resistance, which I'm not complaining about cos I don't hate that one.

Cos this organiser is kinda new on the scene, here's this person's feedback on the whole thing.
  1. NGL, I was beyond annoyed when they announced the venue change and didn't offer the chance/option for people who bought tickets earlier to change to a seated ticket or keep their existing standing area. I'm too old and short to be in the standing area, I don't need to be in the pit but I also didn't want to go into serious debt for a seat either.
  2. Having only ONE merch booth was also kinda stupid. If you only have enough product for one booth, then fine, but the only reason why I managed to get merch in the past cos there's always been MORE THAN ONE BOOTH. You know there's so many people attending already, take that into consideration la. No wonder people are buying the counterfeit (or scalped, I dunno) tee shirts from the vendors.
  3. Location of the the wristband redemption tent not central enough. It's great you're driving (and parked) there; it being in one of the parking lots and so far off the path of the LRT station entrance (instead of allocating that space for F&B) was also kinda stupid. Why can't that be front and centre some where else? I didn't want to be doing a lap outside the stadium for a piece of Tyvek.
