Secret Diary of a Call Girl

Based on the blook (portmanteau of "blog" and "book") The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl by Belle de Jour (whom I give props for not having her cover blown yet), the show follows the life of a working girl Belle, played by Billie Piper, who tries to juggle both sides of her life with two phones, two different wardrobes, two personalities etc etc.

A feature of the show is the breaking of the fourth wall as Belle breaks out at times to address the viewer, to explain or express something about her profession or her double life. By the end of the first series (about 8 episodes long), her uni friend/one-time boyfriend Ben knows what she actually does for a living.

The second series started recently, and it's getting a little more exciting - she's got a BOYFRIEND as well as an unwanted protege, Bambi.

If you can't tell by now, it's not one of those you can let kids watch EVER, for any reason. You see Billie Piper's boobs at least once every episode and don't get me started on the client's fetishes.

It's entertaining enough as it's only half an hour long, but don't say I didn't warn you.

I'm in line to read the blook, but it might take awhile before I would ever get my hands on it. I seriously don't think that it'll be available in Malaysia. Thank goodness for Bookcrossing.

The good thing about downloading it is that I could skip ahead if I want to: for instance, the opening montage - as suitable as Amy Winehouse's You Know I'm No Good is for a theme song, I don't need to hear the trumpet part of the song every week.

It's a good thing Billie Piper is no longer doing Doctor Who....
