Evernote is a place for you to store your thoughts, ideas, etc etc. It's been touted to be your "second brain" to store all the information your own brain can't store. I couldn't tell at first what their logo was as I was only looking at the favicon before, but's it's actually an elephant (geddit? haha). I can't remember where I first heard about the site, but I had to check it out for myself and signed up for an account. You can upload text, photos, scanned material, etc to it. I'm sure there are more uses for it, but I still haven't figured them out yet. You can check out the official blog and here on maximising your Evernote account.
Which is why you can also listen to the Evernote blogcast, hosted by the Marketing Dude, Technical Dude and the CEO Dude and hear what the company is working on behind the scenes. I'm not gonna bother with names because it's only six episodes so far and I still can't tell who is who by ear. It's only audio, and there's no video version. But like the software, I'm sure the podcast will get better with time. The theme is also pretty bouncy and cheery for a show hosted by three guys, but the podcast is informative.
There are mobile applications available, but only for iPhones and Blackberrys as far as I can tell. Nothing about the other phones or anything. No, I've not tried it on Opera Mini :P But you can link both Evernote and Twitter accounts together - just follow @myEN and follow the instructions. I've done it, but I don't really remember to tweet my notes to Evernote as there's no real urge to.
You can also download the software for your computer and it'll sync with the web account. So far I'm only using it for stuff I've clipped from around the Internets that I can't otherwise be arsed to store unto my own hard drive. I just heard from the podcast that they're working on the Windows client update at the moment, so I'll hold off on downloading it just yet.
It'll even identify text in a photograph and you can search for it by the text.
Free users can only upload 40MB a month, which is not too bad for light users. Premium accounts are US$5 a month.
