4th of July housewarming

So Apek finally throws the oft-asked about housewarming party at his new place in OUG after months of being pestered. I was stressing out a little bit cos I haven't been to the area in YEARS, much less know my way to Old Klang Road. I couldn't get a ride, so I thought might as well just get it over with and just drive there with Mum's directions to Old Klang Road via PJ Old Town.

That said, there was the matter of finding the house. This is where I'm glad I had company - uncle and Eunice came along for the ride (and they're about as clueless as I was). We were supposed to leave my house at 5 p.m., but ended up leaving half an hour later due to something or other (uncle had to stop to get grapes at Giant, and was stuck in line paying for them). Eunice helped with the directions (that apek emailed and I had printed out prior) and we got there earlier than expected as I padded the travel time a little for in case we ever got lost :P Well okay, we kinda did for a little bit, but that was Apek's fault for telling us to turn into Jalan Seumpat when it was actually Jalan Selimpat - I made an executive decision and made a quick U-turn - I know these things happen, but we weren't the only ones who got on his case about it later, haha. If nothing else his directions were pretty top notch (don't tell him I said that).

We had a good laugh at uncle's expense as he took half an hour to wash each individual grape (I shit you not) and plucking them off one by one and another half hour cleaning and prepping the honeydew. Just for kicks, someone would scream to everyone to eat the fruit because our friend took an hour to wash them, only to laugh some more hearing him retort, "Half an hour lah!". Heh.

Weather was already pretty hot on top of the barbecue that our host tried to get going - half a bottle of fluid on the briquettes, which was a funny sight watching the lighter fluid go "WHOOSH" only to fizzle out seconds later.
Those briquettes are pretty hard to light, but once they get get going, they're good.

I took some candid shots for road testing the new camera.

Plenty of food (sadly, no booze :P - there should've been a BYOB clause in there), plenty of talk, I got a heat-triggered headache towards the end of the shindig (the last of us left around 11 something cos we were waiting for Cheryl from a family thing in Hartamas). I was amazed that we made it back to PJ in one piece :P Also got stuck in a police roadblock traffic, but thankfully was not pulled over for anything (I wasn't in the mood for it anyway).
I came with two passengers and left with three - fortunately everyone buckled up.

Took a couple of Panadol and went to bed right after a shower.
