No Kindle for Malaysia - meh.

Amazon Kindle e-book reader being held by my g...Image via Wikipedia
After some noise about Amazon's Kindle being made available outside the US (in 100 countries) and Malaysia not being one of them (surprise, surprise but you can kinda hack it if you have the know-how), I can only say this:

WHO THE FUCK CARES?!

ONE - THERE IS NO STINKING AMAZON.COM.MY!!

TWO - It's US$279, which is still a lot of money for something you can't use the wireless to buy books directly off Amazon on the thing. People would still have to download and sync with whatever cable that comes with it. Not to mention if you actually want to BUY ebooks, you would need to find a way to get gift cards....

THREE - The thing has no colour display. You can't expect me to pay for something I could only see black and white with.

FOUR - The file proprietary BS: it only does (AFAIK) the DRM laden AZW file. It doesn't even do PDF. WTF.

FIVE - You can't browse blogs and read newspapers on it.

SIX - One can get cheaper print copies or ebooks elsewhere.

It is just way too much work for reading on the airplane.
