Finally got round to checking out the National Science Centre (en route to Hartamas/Mont Kiara) to check out the Da Vinci: The Genius exhibit which is there until 10 January 2010.
Of course we checked out the rest of the place before going in - but not all the interactive displays were working :( If I had paid to go in, I would be annoyed; but we didn't have to pay to go in (not sure because it's Christmas, or because they're gonna be renovating soon from 18th January).
The Da Vinci exhibit was not too bad - only 1/3 of the stuff there that we could touch (rest was off-limits). A draw (haha) of the exhibition for me was Mona Lisa Revealed, where one learns some of the "secrets" of La Gioconda - some of the things I learnt was that there was a veil on her in the painting, which one would never realise until you see this set of 13 very high quality photos of her in different lights (with a 240MP camera, from UV to infrared). And she did have eyebrows and lashes, but they faded with time.
Only souvenir I bought was the program book (RM29.90) as I didn't find the rest of the selection (tee shirts, organisers, passport holders...) the least bit tempting.
Had lunch at Ninja Joe's in Tropicana City Mall on the way home - the pork burgers aren't something I'm gonna have again too soon. But might go back to try some of the other stuff. Wandered the place a little and finally tried the Kona coffee at Bad Ass Coffee: the sibling had his hot and mine iced - mine took longer because they brew to order the 100% Kona drink, so I had to wait. Had to give them props for using coffee ice cubes in their iced drinks so it doesn't dilute the drink.
Came home and spent the next 3 hours (at most) installing one LACK wall shelf with the sibling (who did the drilling, etc) - it wasn't easy mounting the bracket at the height it's at now and there are a few extra holes than we would've liked, but they're hidden behind the shelf, so it's not too bad :P

An idea I had was to attach the second one (yes, I bought two) and make like an L-shaped shelf over the door, but couldn't risk it (and the books) falling on someone's head, you know? The other shelf would have to wait another day and another spot on the wall (TBD)...
Anyway, Merry Christmas to whoever's celebrating and a nice weekend to the rest of us.
