When I heard that they're gonna turn Alice Sebold's novel The Lovely Bones into a movie, I groaned. I read through the book like I did the Twilight books - it's a little depressing but you still go through with it to the end just because. Some part of me expected this to be a movie at some point when I read it a couple of years ago, and now it's happened.
I have no problems with Peter Jackson directing the movie.
I found the casting to be a little shocking: Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz as the parents, for one.

- The girl playing Susie played Keira Knightley's sister in Atonement - I'm okay with that.
- Stanley Tucci as the anatagonist - He's one of those guys that can play good guys and evil villains, I don't see any real problems there.
According to the book, Susie was raped and murdered. The rape aspect was omitted from the movie. I'm sure it's a little shocking to American sensibilities that a minor would be raped and killed (and not just in a book), but still...
As much as I like to see how Peter Jackson interprets Susie's non-religious, "personalised heaven" on the big screen, but I don't think I want to watch the rest of it.
