I've quit the day job

The only reason why I didn't say anything about it earlier was because I've been procrastinating in telling the parents about it. I don't think it's nice to tell the people on the Internet things like this before telling one's family.

Submitted the resignation letter last week and after deducting my remaining annual leave from the one month notice period, I only had two weeks to serve (technically) and it was only the Tuesday after handing it in before the supervisor talked to me about it.

No, I didn't sit both parents down and told them - I just told Dad over breakfast. He was fine (or glad?) with it, and I trust him to tell Mum later when I'm not around than have me tell her about it. I think he just asked me about my last day (which was June 4) - I just told him that it was after deducting the public holiday (Wesak) and my remaining annual leave (10 days) that I'm leaving next Wednesday.

No, I don't have another job lined up and I'm not looking for one so soon - I kinda have a few things in mind for my "tanam anggur" period that have been simmering in the back burner for a while now. I have some money squirreled away for a "staycation", but not so much that I could afford a long, far away vacation, which would be nice but since I'm a terrible traveller, is just as well.

Worse come to worst, I could end up supervising the house renovations (should it happen), which I'm okay with save for some niggles. Again I digress.

Now to see how my last day would go, as the man who signs the paycheques is expected to be around before flying off again. It could be uneventful, or I would end up doing serious OT like one of the former coworkers, who worked until 11 p.m. on his last day, which was pretty sad (and damn evil on the big boss's part) since he couldn't go to his own farewell do that the other coworkers organised for him.
