Iron Man 2

Rushed to see Iron Man 2 at Tropicana City for the 8 p.m. screening - got a ticket about 15 minutes before because I think there's more than one screen dedicated to it. Even after getting a few things in Carrefour and the usual popcorn and drink at the concession stand, I was just in time for the movie to begin and (sadly) missed out on the trailers.

The movie was so-so; but you don't go to a Marvel Comics movie for the story telling: women go to see Robert Downey, Jr; the guys go to see Scarlett Johansson in the skintight Lycra; and explosions for everyone else in between. Yes ladies, I wouldn't blame you if you saw this just to ogle at RDJ.

I don't get the whining about Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard as Rhodes, which might have something to do with me not caring. Role recasting happens all the time.

One of things I enjoy about Marvel Comic movies is the "Spot-the-Stan-Lee-cameo": it was funny that he got referred to as Larry King early in the movie, suspenders and all.

I have to give Favreau props for writing himself a bigger role in this one as Happy. Even the fight scene.

Random thoughts watching Iron Man 2
  • What kinda tools did they have to fashion his facial hair? I mean, it's not the average soul patch...
  • I wonder how many people thought they got tickets to Ip Man 2, and vice versa?
  • Ooh, the other guy (that's not Jon Hamm) from Mad Men as Howard Stark
  • Is there a movie RDJ is in that you don't see his wife listed as a producer? Which explains the lack of off-set romances... ha ha ha.
Do stay to watch the post-credits extra.
