Finished the book I got yesterday (How I Lived a Year on Just a Pound a Day
) in a few hours because it's pretty light reading compared to the other books that I've not finished... -_-
First of all - If a Malaysian were to attempt this, it would probably have to be RM10 a day. There's no way urbanite Malaysians can survive on RM1 a day, which is RIDICULOUS because of the first world/third world thing.
Second - she walked/cycled/hitched her way around town, which is good for her.
a) It's too hot to walk ANYWHERE outside most of the time
b) Ditto cycling
c) Too many abduction cases to even think about hitch hiking
I give her props for scrimping where ever possible, even the free hairstyling. It was one thing that she discovered some of the things she discovered (like Bookcrossing), and I'm glad to know there are other sites/services. But most of those sites just doesn't apply outside the UK, in my opinion.
And membership to the public libraries here aren't worth the price value-wise.

But good on her for finding a significant other towards the end of the experience.
However, I would recommend it to people in the UK for a quick read/flip.
