The Sorceror's Apprentice

Not about to go on about the plot because it's very loosely based on the one bit in Fantasia with Mickey Mouse as the Apprentice, crazy mops and brooms, etc and the Goethe poem.

The Turtletaub-Cage combination has worked before (as in the National Treasure movies), so it's this or the M. Night Shyamalan-directed Airbender live action adaptation, and I've boycotted M. Night Shyamalan movies since I got dragged to watch Signs (*PTUI*).
  • Nic Cage as the greasy-haired sorcerer Balthazar - no real complaints, the greasy hair detracts from his hairline :P
  • Monica Bellucci only appeared in the last third of the movie, even then she didn't say much.
  • Alfred Molina is gonna be a Disney Films baddie for the rest of his life, which I guess is great for his grandkid.
  • Didn't really care for Jay Baruchel, and I never saw his previous movies. Works in this context. Voice is nerdy annoying.
  • I recognised Omar Miller from CSI: Miami. Heh.
  • Yes, there was a scene of the cleaning instruments gone wild.
There weren't that many laughs, but it's entertaining enough, I suppose. The training bit in the movie was only so-so, which makes the final battle in the end pretty cool in comparison.

After watching The Sorceror's Apprentice, my only question is: Is OneRepublic getting paid for their song being played more than once? Just wondering.

Watch if there's nothing else you like, or have already seen Inception.
