Nuffnang's Glitterati Plus Open Meeting

Got my butt to Taylor's Lakeside Campus to check out Nuffnang's Glitterati Plus Open Meeting in one of the lecture theatres on campus. Luckily the LDP didn't act up going there and I got there with about minutes to spare.

I haven't been on a college campus in awhile, but I have to say I was kinda blown away by the scale of the place.

As it is with these things, the meeting only got underway after FORTY FIVE MINUTES of rotting in the lecture hall which was, thankfully, not too cold. I'm glad I breakfasted before I left, and I'm sure there's at least some people in the room who haven't had a bite to eat yet. The meeting concluded about an hour later, which wasn't so bad, but still.

I'll skip through the banality and give the gist of why we're all there so early in the morning.

Basically, Glitterati Plus is a subset of Nuffnang's Glitterati, the members of which get to attend PRESS screenings of films (not the average preview screenings that Glitterati members get), certain events and better contests and prizes that Glitterati members don't get. It's that exclusive.

Of course, with it comes the criteria, and they are...
  • Active blogging - more than 5 posts a month
  • Event participation - at least 30% of Nuffnang events, and ONLY Nuffnang events
  • Contest participation - at least 50% of Nuffnang contests
According to the president (Shah of Memoirs of a Teh Tarik Drinker), you only need to have at least 2 of the above criteria to join Glitterati Plus. Which I kinda doubt that I do (only have #1 down, can't say the same for #2 and #3), so I don't think I'll be joining anytime soon, mostly because I don't really have blogger friends that I've met in real life and me going for these things by myself would be a little sad.

The "light refreshments" afterward were indeed light - (only a tad larger) muffins, currypuffs (which were meh), cream puffs, and.... bottled water. Tried a currypuff (didn't like it - I have my criteria), had a few cream puffs, didn't bother with the muffins. There was a scheduled campus tour, but I didn't feel like waiting until 1 p.m. for that, so I walked around a bit, took some pictures, drove around the campus and left.

Application forms were also given out during this time, but you can also do it online when the time comes.

PS. I was blown away (some) by the new lakeside campus. Then I thought: imagine how much the student fees are NOW... That's how I neutralise my feelings of envy. To be fair, I also did my time at a lakeside campus (actual lake some more, not the man-made kind) too, so tak heran lah. HAHAHA.

There's Old Town, Baskin Robbins, Wong Kok and a freaking STARBUCKS. WTF. I don't envy the fees the students must be paying as well as the lifestyle :P
PPS. I didn't know there was already a committee in place for this. Oh well.
