Finally redeemed my Groupon for half priced wax session at Honeypot's second outlet in 1U (the second "home") on a Sunday morning. Getting the appointment wasn't too hard (scheduling it before noon helps, haha) as I already wanted to use it right away and if I procrastinate, it might get harder to get an appointment down the road as 400 other people have bought the same Groupon. (They called me back once the day after to reschedule to a later time slot, which I'm okay with; but I wondered about the THREE missed calls the evening before as by the time I saw them, it was too late to return them. But at least I got an automated text reminder from them, which is a nice touch.)
Didn't take too long to find the place (second home, after all), and having been to the Bangsar outlet awhile ago, I didn't have to fill out the customer information form as I'm already in their database. I just gave them the voucher and off I went.
For a place that was only open a few days with construction going on elsewhere in the old wing, it did not reek of paint and plaster.
As several months have lapsed since the last time I had a wax, the poor waxer (who I suspect might be a little green [but probably isn't] as she's about as reserved and quiet as I am compared to some of the other waxers I've come across) had to do some trimming before the waxing could happen and it hurt more than I remembered. She also reminded me about the other waxing discounts (20% discount on underarms and lower legs) that came with this particular Groupon, but I got nothing for her to wax in those areas.
Despite the pain and time, at least it was a pretty clean job save for the inevitable ingrown and little hairs that the wax didn't pick up, which happens.
One of the other things I like about Honeypot is that they don't do the hard sell on their products or packages afterwards (unlike the other Singaporean waxing chain which shall remain nameless), which can be annoying. Well okay, the shop manager wasn't at the counter when I came out, haha.
Have I mentioned this outlet's also closer to home for me? I'd go again, but probably with a different waxer. That's just me.
I am not a fan of the colour pink, but don't let that stop you from trying the place out... even for your first time. Just tell them so when you make that appointment as getting that first wax from a newly-minted waxer is not something I would recommend to first-timers - that is an exercise in masochism.
