Having been to the first one at Sunway Lagoon a couple of years ago, being there in person is not really all that and here's why I would rather watch it on TV.
- You might be there for at least 12 hours - even though the event starts in the evening, but you might have been told to go "collect" your passes in the afternoon. This I have no idea why. Of course you COULD go later, but parking might be a bitch.
- It's a no booze event.
- Once you're in, they don't let you come and go as you please - you're pretty much stuck there. Which sucks if you're only there for the major act and not much else.
- Crazy overpriced food and drink - and you can't even bring your own water in, which I can understand, but still.
- Do you know how long it takes for the crew to set up the equipment for each act? At least an hour - they don't show this on TV for obvious reasons. If it rains - even worse.
- There's only so much of the World Stage ads and jingles that one can stand hearing and seeing in all those hours.
- Sure, you see the VJs on stage warming up the crowd, giving stuff away... but they're not baseball players, they can't throw the things to where you're standing if you're not in the moshing area.
- The major act that they've been pimping for the last month or so (this year being 30 Seconds to Mars) will probably come on after 11 p.m. That's why I didn't manage to stick around for Kasabian's set - I was too freaking exhausted to care.
If you are going (it's tonight at i-City Shah Alam), have fun anyway. But I think I'll probably watch a nicely produced version on TV later.
