After nearly three years, I finally upgraded my point and shoot camera from a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 to the TZ30, only because I got the new one for a little less than current retail price (RM1xxx), and it's only been out a little while. It was also cheaper than how much I paid for the TZ7 in June 2009 :P Damn time and technology. The only major-ish feature they added since the TZ7 is the GPS function so you can pin locations on the pictures, which I'm not sure I'll need, let alone use.
One of the things I noticed was that the box for the new camera was smaller and lighter. Because I didn't pay retail, I also did not get stuck with the load of usual "freebies" like camera cases, reusable bags (seriously - who doesn't have a stack somewhere?), tripods, and what not. Stuff I don't really need.

Here's some side-by-side pictures to prove my point...

I can tell you that the TZ7 box is heftier than the TZ30
What's interesting is that they both use the same battery. Huh.
I just wanted a compact camera with the most zoom possible; my only requirement. If you know of other brands/models, well, that's what the comments are for.
