Secret of Louisiana, Plaza Kelana Jaya

Instead of making my own dinner or going to the hawker centre last Friday evening, I met up with that uncle for dinner at Secret of Louisiana, situated along the lake at Plaza Kelana Jaya. I also made a conscious decision not to take the LDP the whole way and to take the alternate route instead - wasn't about to risk getting stuck in traffic if I can help it.

Sat outside along the lake - lucky the weather held out. He ordered the seafood jambalaya ("special rissoto [sic] rice cooked with awesome assorted seafood, sausages, tomato, celery and herbs till handsomely [sic] done"). I ordered the jerk chicken ("rubbed chicken whole leg with special jerky marination, chargrilled and baked till blackened and awesomely flavoured, served on tangy cajun rice"). If not for the conversation, I would be annoyed at how long it took to arrive. Whether it was actual Cajun flavour or not I'll never find out until I'm in actual Cajun country.

The rice was not bad, but I wasn't in the mood to eat it all, and I had help finishing it. Everything else was edible. I'm still not sure where was I supposed to squeeze the lemon wedges over specifically - the rice, chicken, the salad or just over everything, but I don't think you can go wrong there.

The lights around us kept going out a few times as the waitstaff sang versions of a birthday song (the less expensive version) in various languages (even in Mandarin) for several tables the few hours we were there; which is impressive considering they're not locals.

I suppose it could be a lot worse, but I don't know if I'd go back on my own accord...
