The Dark Knight Rises

[Spoiler-y. Don't say I didn't warn you.]

Second movie this week - The Dark Knight Rises (TDKR) at the newly opened GSC in Paradigm. Don't understand why the ladies room downstairs only had 3 stalls and the point of the upstairs concession stand which is never operational when I'm there (maybe it's open on weekends?). But I digress. Lucky I went with the screening that was before 9 p.m. than after 9 p.m. - yes, it's almost 3 hours long, like the other movies were.

I admit, I took a cursory glance at the Wiki article before going in. Didn't ruin the fun for me. Keep drinking to a minimum or find out when's the best time for that bathroom break.

I don't watch these movies to see Christian Bale's Batman (meh) - I watch these movies because they're Christopher Nolan movies.
  • Just when I thought Christian Bale's Batman voice in these movies couldn't be anymore groan-worthy, along comes Bane with his stupider accent and voice. *facepalm* At least I don't have to see Christian Bale as Batman ever again after this.
  • I want the Bat pod.
  • I totally get why this one's shot in New York - Chicago's too land locked to pull off the bridge explosions - unless people decide to escape via Lake Michigan and freeze to death...LOL.
  • I also love Anne Hathaway's goggles that flip up to look like cat ears. Me-ow.
  • If you didn't know any better, most of Inception's major players, minus DiCaprio and Watanabe,  are in this one :P
  • For a police commissioner, it took Gordon way too long to finally figure out who Batman really was, when it only took Blake less time to do the same.
  • My biggest laugh out loud moment was Batman getting a taste of his own medicine when Catwoman disappears mid-conversation. Still cracks me up thinking about it.
  • You only see Tom Hardy's unmasked face for two whole seconds.
  • I groaned inwardly a little when Blake's full name was revealed to be Robin John Blake (at least it wasn't Dick Grayson or any of the other Robins); but not when he gets the Batcave in the end (which was cool). I don't know if this means that there'll be like another spin on the series or what with Joseph Gordon Levitt in the future.. but you never know. Would I watch it? Sure, why not... as long as it's not another reboot.
  • I wonder how long did it take Liam Neeson to do his ONE scene in the movie as a hallucination.
I thought it was a nice ending to the series... you know, if you take the inconsistencies out of the picture. Good to know, but really people, it's just a movie: if they addressed every single niggle you all had in the movie, we'd all be in there for half a day. Sheesh.

As usual, I say GO WATCH IT ALREADY if you haven't - WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!

PS. Saw the Life of Pi movie trailer. At least it wasn't Dev Patel.
