Kalamazoo, Aman Suria

I've heard and read of Kalamazoo (named after the town in Michigan) in Aman Suria, which is a couple doors down from Betty's Midwest Kitchen, but until Sunday night, never got round to it. Until the old man wanted to go out for dinner and said he's paying, whatever I wanted.

It was pretty quiet for Sunday night (most of the crowd was waiting outside Betty's for seating); so it was fine. Dad ordered Callahan's roast chicken, I got the oven-baked pork loin, and shared a bowl of beef stew. Didn't order more since we're the small eaters :P

Oven baked pork loin with blanched beans and mashed potatoes
Tried some of the chicken (RM14.90?) - delicious. Would've ordered that myself if I didn't want some other meat to bite into. Anyhow, you can't fuck up when cooking leg meat - if you did, then something is terribly wrong... or you got kampung chicken :P

I thought the pork loin (RM15.90?) was a little dry, but then again I'm a dark meat kinda person, so if you like lean meat, you might want to go for this. At least the mashed potatoes were lumpy enough to not be from a machine. The pineapple chutney over the meat was really delicious and complemented the pork nicely. I know from personal experience that Midwestern food tends to be a little bland, but after seasoning it myself with salt, it tasted fine to me.

The beef stew (under RM7) was fine, but a little too dilute from my personal experience of a stew.  I should be glad it wasn't any heartier, or neither of us would've been able to finish it. But it does remind me of this...

Mmm... Campbell's Chunky
Had two of the macaroon-sized brownies (RM1.50 each) to go. Not fudge-y enough. I have high standards for brownies.

In conclusion - my dad thought the place wasn't too bad and also, not too expensive ;)

At least we were fed and left while some people were still waiting outside Betty's.
