After over a year since it opened, I finally stepped foot into Universal Studios Singapore. It was a hot Saturday, but it was also cloudy at some point and glad it didn't rain or some of the rides would have to close for bad weather.
Being the wuss that I am, I didn't go on the roller coasters, but I did go on the other rides and saw the shows that I could catch. Mostly went around taking obligatory pictures without me in them because I was alone. The only perk about going alone was getting this on some of the rides...
One auntie asked the people running the rides why some of us "jumped queue" :P Well it's not my fault you decided to go in a huge group...If asked "how many?", just say "one" if you don't want spend hours waiting to go on the (really brief) rides.
That said, some of the rides did remind me of the ones up in Genting Highlands, like this one...
Remind you of anything? Anyone? |
And it was over a shorter distance than the lao ya che ride in Genting :P
I personally covered it in a few hours thanks to the my not wanting to go on coasters and the single rider queue caveat. Not hard you're not really into BSG, Shrek franchise (I liked one of movies), The Mummy franchise, Jurassic Park, Waterworld... to cut a long story short, I enjoyed the New York and Hollywood zones. But it would be a huge waste of money if I didn't go see the rest of the place, so off I went.
Couldn't decide where to eat - I was so hungry that I ended up having nachos and Coke at a kiosk in Far Far Away before catching the next Donkey Live show. I don't know how they get away with selling roast turkey legs for S$12 each :P The souvenir shops were just so-so: you can probably get some of the stuff outside the park for cheaper. I was so cheap the only things I bought were souvenir collar pins.
It may be a better experience going with other people and/or young children, but as a jaded adult: once is enough.
The clapper on the pin does move |
