Sigur Ros at Urbanscapes

I, for one, would never expect to see Sigur Rós in Malaysia ever, let alone here in PJ; so to say I was excited that they headlined Urbanscapes would be an understatement.

It had stopped raining when the road crew was setting up, so figured that it was time for me to find a place to sit. I laid a piece of  eviscerated black garbage bag from home, out on the muddy field, laid the Paperlounger on that and settled on a spot in the back where I (hoped) was not blocking anyone behind me. Other people around me reusing their disposable ponchos and laid those out instead. I wonder what they would've done if it was still raining... I don't know why people insist on standing at a Sigur Rós concert but it's their prerogative... as long as they don't block the view of those of us that would rather sit it out at the back. There was a lot "OI, DUDUKLAH!" from us seated ones to the standing asshats blocking the view - I'm sorry, but either you squeeze in front with everyone else that were also standing or you sit your butt down at the back.

They came on around 9.30 p.m.. Here was the setlist:

Sigur Rós Setlist Padang Astaka, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia 2012, Valtari Tour

Despite the horrendous weather before, the sound system held out and the sound was excellent.

It was a bunch of old songs plus a track or two from the current album, Valtari. They also introduced a new song they had just recorded (Brennisteinn, but I could've sworn it was something else) into the set. They finished their last show of the year at 11 p.m. with a bang - by that, I mean the fireworks show that went on for a couple of minutes. I felt a little bad for the nearby residents and patients at the eye hospital.

Thanks Urbanscapes, now I can cross Sigur Rós off the concert bucket list.
