Chuup, Damansara Jaya

The only reason I know of Chuup in the first place was because I do some of my errands in the area and had noticed the construction. It now occupies the spot where Lotus (the mamak) used to be. It's also so new the only other blogger review is Eat Drink KL's piece.

Anyway, was there on Sunday with the sibling as we were left to our own devices again for lunch. Managed to get a table despite the chaos. Service was nothing to write home about (to say they were a bit slow/in the weeds would be an understatement), but I'll let it slide because it's only been open for a couple of weeks.

Wasn't sure what to expect before ever seeing the menu, but it's local fare. And they have erm, angmo coffee too (as in espresso-based drinks). Not in the mood for carbs, I got the Grandma's Pork Chuup (RM17.90), while the sibling got the nasi lemak with pork rendang (RM13.90) after his first choice (some gulai dish) was sold out.

The pork was tender and the portion was generous for the price tag. Tried some of the nasi lemak and thought it was fragrant and lemak enough; his complaint was that there wasn't enough sambal. To be fair, there's already quite a lot on the plate as it is to quibble about the amount of sambal

I only just glanced at the receipt to write this and I didn't know that we got a 10% discount.
