It's not often that you go to the cineplex and NOT watch a movie, but a comedy show.
I didn't know what to expect when I bought an early bird ticket to Kavin Jay's show at the second home TGV Friday night, which is the first stop on this particular tour. Mostly because it's nearby and I had nothing else going on. If I knew the show wasn't gonna sell out and have the Maybank cardholders flat rate promo, I would've waited... and only saved like RM8.50.
Collected the ticket from the box office took a awhile as there were only 2 counters open and people were taking way too much time deciding their seats, like they were making life or death decisions. It's printed on standard ticket card stock.
By the time we got to Hall 5, there was complimentary popcorn and drink... pretty good for price paid, just didn't really appreciate that it was Pepsi Black. Either that, or the ice melted too much. I can't be the only one cos there were some unfinished drinks afterwards.
I was right in that the show didn't sell out - there were still plenty of seats, so could've self-upgraded kalau mau. There was also a stage in front because otherwise you can't see anything from the back.
Papi Zak was host with Gajen Nad as the opener (who stepped in for Brian Tan), which took half an hour. I still remember Zak's Cicakman as a porno bit and Gajen's main bit was about how slow T'Challa's speech pattern on Black Panther was and how people think he's Nepalese.
Kavin came on about 10.15 p.m. and did about an hour. It was freezing where I was seated and had to use the bathroom halfway through his set. But I don't think I missed that much, TBH.
But still funny AF.
If you enjoy his Netflix special, you'll like this one. Catch him at a TGV near you. It really is like buying a movie ticket.
