Local entertainment scene is slowly regaining its sea legs as live events are allowed to go on again, albeit in limited capacity.
- Singaporean F&B chain Pho Street has shut down operations in Malaysia. Colour me surprised.
- They're now making vaccines available for teens at whichever PPVs that are still open who still haven't gotten their in-school appointments.
- Saw two (archive footage) online shows this week - a play (Shanon Shah's Air Con, staged by Instant Cafe Theatre) and a musical (The Working Dead), which reminds me of back when I would plan when to watch which show in a week in the before-times.
- You know you #oldliao when you dunno the Squid Game memes going around the internet and didn't know it was a Netflix show.
- Anyone remember that show Life Goes On, where one of the kids was played by an actual person with Down's? I also didn't know that the theme song was a Beatles song until many years later. It's being rebooted.
- So apparently the owner of BooksActually in Singapore has been accused of many, many things: labour law violations (ie. paying them late, if at all), predatory behaviour, etc, by former employees who were all 20-something ladies when it happened to them (clearly, dude has a type). For someone denying the allegations made against him, he suddenly relinquishing ownership of both the bookstore and publishing arm to the "elves" (that's what the staff are called) still working there. If he never pay the staff on time, I can only imagine if the (financial) books are in order or not.
- Got my replacement BigPay card by courier over the weekend; looks pretty snazzy with the details being on the back side of the card. For a referral, go here (download the app), key in Z9BMOWUD8K and we both get RM20.
