Trailer for Bullet Train seemed fun, decided to watch it - it's been almost a couple of months since I was last in the cineplex (Thor: Love and Thunder getting cancelled in Malaysia was... something).
Ended up watching it in Pyramid for a bunch of reasons, but mainly so that I won't have to rush afterwards to find lunch and whatever before leaving... because it's over 2 hours long (probably less, cos censorship)
- People might find Lemon and Tangerine (Brian Tyree Henry and Aaron Taylor-Johnson) being erm, twins hard to believe, but definitely plausible.
- Seriously, what kind of former gangster wouldn't have a plan to place to safeguard his only grandson? Of course the kid was protected.
- Eh, Hiroyuki Sanada got so old meh?
- Anyone else thinks Andrew Koji looks like a pan-Asian "Batman" Pattinson in this, or is it just me?
- No idea Logan Lerman was in this.
- I laughed so hard when the song kicking the final battle was the Japanese version of this song.
- Dunno about anyone else, but Michael Shannon as the big bad at the end was kinda hard to believe. He's played villains before, sure, but this was a bit of a stretch.
- So many people died in such short order, they're more like glorified cameos.
- Speaking of glorified cameos, there's plenty of those too; all on screen for under 5 minutes?
- At least now some of us now know Bad Bunny's given name and not credited as "Bad Bunny" or something.
I don't know why this had to be over 2 hours long. But if you enjoy the John Wick movies, Deadpool movies, slick close quarters fight choreography and what not, you might like this one. However if you're squeamish about fake gore like me but can't resist this kind of movie, you have that to contend with as well. At least it's not a MCU/DCEU movie?
