Week 19, 2023

It's that time of year again - where people are taking their mothers out for a meal or whatever cos it's Mother's Day.

  • After days of speculation, turns out the Coldplay unkers are gonna swing by Australia and Asia in November, and they're playing Malaysia at long last. NGL, Bukit Jalil is a PITA (both as a location and in accessibility terms), but you can't contain them in a smaller stadium. Ticket prices are also announced, and honestly, it's kinda on par with all those times I've seen them overseas (ha). At least this time, I don't have to shell out more money for travel and lodging, so yay. But the line "for you I bleed myself dry" hit a bit too close to home.

The only annoying thing is that cos CIMB is a sponsor, there's gonna be a presale for CIMB cardholders the day before the general presale. Based on what happened 6 years ago with the last Singapore show with the Citibank cardholders, it might be bonkers. Also gotta give CIMB props cos they announced online that they're gonna have certain branches open over the weekend for people who want to erm, open an account for the presale, which is very shrewd of them. But I dunno if I want to open an account there just for this (every bank has a charge for closing an account within 3 months of opening). Maybe I'll just try my luck with the general presale? At least can use own credit card... I'm also predicting that the nosebleeds might go really fast during the presale, which I'm not really aiming for.
  • Because the show Blackadder is 40, Royal Mail is issuing new stamps and stuff.
  • FamilyMart announced this week that they're no longer selling alcohol in stores, which is kinda like ehh, but also feels a bit the nanny state, if you ask me - is your iman so weak that you can't stand to see alcohol in the chiller, minding it's own business? It's already behind frosted doors, so wtf la.
  • New season of MasterChef Australia finally started this past week. Was not wrong in that it is kinda awkward AF to watch, but nice to forget for a bit that he's no longer with us?
  • New season of Queer Eye
  • Both Buzzfeed and MTV News is shutting down. Sad.
  • Dooce died this week. If you know who that is, you're probably of a certain age in internet years.
