Finally found some time to catch Blue Beetle, knowing that I won't have time to watch over the coming weekend (couldn't really find the time last weekend either), but at least I still could rely on MBO's midweek special. (Also helped that they had an 8 p.m. screening when everyone else's timings were after 9 p.m.) Cineplex midweek specials are a good deal, provided you're okay with watching a movie after opening weekend or whatever.
It's also been a hot minute since I last saw a comic book movie with a character I'm not already familiar with. No idea if this movie will get the Latino support like Black Panther or even Shang-Chi for Black and Asian communities, but kinda hard to tell since the marketing buzz for this was kinda hampered by the actor's strike. It's kinda funny that the directors have to go promote their own movies lately cos the DGA is not on strike.
- Is this movie set in the 90s or something ah? Why macam the 90s je?
- At least the kid is age appropriate for his character...?
- NGL, the rest of the Reyes family are freaking hilarious, especially grandma who's got quite the past, as it turns out. And they didn't stick George Lopez in there to just be the goofy uncle.
- Dunno whether to laugh or cry when the mother was giving the pep talk not just to Jaime, but also Khaji-Da the symbiote LOL
- Was wondering how the family was gonna go rescue Jaime if Jenny didn't step in with her dad's old tech, cos it'd be mildly amusing to see them try.
- If I have to guess, we only hear Ted at the end because they haven't cast a Ted Kord just yet?
