Masters of the Universe

I was mostly too young to have seen the He-Man cartoon the first time round. I know the bare minimum, and I know I'm not quite the target demo (dudes in their 40s and 50s now).

Saw this on a lark this morning. Laughed pretty hard at some of the stupid stuff.

  • They actually have him in pink like in the cartoon LOL
  • Didn't Idris Elba play a similar role in the Thor movies?
  • I guess it's cool that they managed to squeeze Dolph Lundgren in for a cameo
  • Anyone else noticed the less than subtle Amazon sponsor placement? LOL so obv leh
  • Idk how they explain Adam's life from 10 to 25 in Oklahoma
  • I wonder how much time did James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley, and Morena Baccarin spend on set...?
  • Them trying to hide Nicholas Galitzine's physique before that huge transformation into He-Man was fooling no one. If nothing else, while he was jacked as He-Man, but not unnaturally so?
  • So much arm detachment... I know it's based on a toy line, and limbs tend to get pulled out, but still..
  • Did not hate Jared Leto as Skeletor
  • So many English people in generic American accents... oklah, except Camila Mendes
The Eternia track is pretty catchy, had no idea THAT Brian May was on the soundtrack at all. But very 1980s vibe lah #iykyk

To be honest, I thought it was a fun, campy romp, but I feel like it didn't have to be so damn long? Also, THREE post credits scenes? I know they're really trying to set up the foundations for a future sequel/franchise, but I don't know if it'll do well enough to warrant all that set up.

Good luck to this movie.
