IKEA buffet...NOT!

Every Ramadhan, the local IKEA store throws this buffet at their restaurant for their fasting customers. The thing is, it also draws the non-fasting crowd also. The main draw of the buffet was that the price was only RM15.90 (for adults), which is not bad a price for buffet relative to what the hotels can cook up.

So once and for all, I went there today with a friend to check out the fuss. The traffic wasn't too shabby, we didn't spend too much time on the road and we got there about 7 something. We immediately saw the LONG line to get in, but not before taking a peek at the menu of the day. After seeing that it's only local fare, we decided to skip it and go elsewhere for dinner.

Long story short, we ended up in the apartment (which is not packed for a Friday night), where the food is basically "inspired" by Jamie Oliver's cooking style (I shit you not - you can tell if you've seen enough of the man's shows). I had the smoked salmon sandwich (with a mountain of home made potato chips) and she had the lamb shank (which is pretty tender, btw - it also comes with mash potatoes made with sour cream). The chocolate mousse I had for dessert really filled me up and at least had a quick wander through before going home. They also have their Ramadhan buffet, and saw what was on the table. The way that you could break even the RM48 (for adults) pricetag is basically to stuff yourself stupid on the protein of seafood and stuff and go without the carbs. You could tell who was having the buffet from the glasses of bandung the servers were refilling (bleaurgh - give me sirap any day).
